Having accomplished many successful projects with the cooperation of MetLife Foundation and Junior Achievement Foundation, MetLife Pension and Life completed the activities of 2019 for “Smart Money Management” for elementary school students and “This is My Business” programs for secondary school students. MetLife focuses on the development of entrepreneurship and financial literacy awareness of children and youth with these projects. On the other hand, having completed the fourth of the Meet Up project on going for three years within the framework of “MetLife Life Changer” project, MetLife volunteers mentored high school students for career planning.
MetLife Turkey and Junior Achievement Foundation has been conducting "MetLife Life Changer" project offering applied individual finance, career development and entrepreneurship programs for high school students in Turkey successfully in cooperation since 2013. Last year primary and secondary school students were included in the project by expanding the scope of the education programs. Volunteers of MetLife Turkey had an intense training by expert trainers of Junior Achievement Turkey for "Smart Money Management" and "This is My Business" programs within this framework. Having contacted1070 students so far, financial literacy and career development awareness were raised with fun educational activities within the scope of the project.
In the “Smart Money Management” program, it was aimed to teach students the tips they can apply to their daily lives about the basic concepts of consumption, spending habits and saving and make them their habits. On the other hand, “This Is My Business” program informed the youth between 13-15 years old about entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship; they also had better concentration of reading and writing in social science courses.
The fourth “Meet Up” project conducted with the collaboration of Junior Achievement Turkey supporting high school students in career planning was held on the first week of May. Within the scope of the project, MetLife volunteers provided mentoring for 100 students at the beginning of their career planning process from 10 different high schools and MetLife employees shared their experiences that might be useful in shaping their future.
